ZEN-MRI at the symposium “Man - Machine: Robots in Public Space”

After almost a year and a half of research into interaction with robots in public spaces, the zen-mri partners already have a number of exciting results to present. These provide answers as to how the robots should be designed or how they should communicate with humans. Ultimately, they should respond to people’s concerns and fears and not endanger them, while at the same time ensuring that tasks are carried out effectively. So what about privacy and data protection issues? What design do the devices use to convey trust?

ZEN-MRI presents its results

At the digital ethics conference IDEepolis at Stuttgart Media University (HdM) on June 19, 2024, the zen-mri team will present its findings and discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with the integration of robots into our lives together with other experts from the field of robotics. Anyone interested in the project and robotics is cordially invited to attend and meet the researchers in person at the conference. Participation in the event is free of charge. Registrations are possible until June 5, 2024 at https://www.hdm-stuttgart.de/meta/anmeldung

Procedure and content of IDEepolis 2024

The trip to Stuttgart is worthwhile: the event begins with the presentation of the fully automated cleaning robots from Adlatus GmbH and the android Andrea from the HdM (Humanoid Lab). From zen-mri, researchers from the University of Ulm, the University of Mainz, the Institute for Digital Ethics at the HdM and the Fraunhofer IAO will be on site. Other speakers include Prof. Dr. Oliver Bendel from the Institute of Information Systems at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW, Prof. Dr. Armin Nassehi from the Institute of Sociology at LMU Munich and Prof. Dr. Catrin Misselhorn from the Department of Philosophy at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen.

META Awards 2024

The META will also be awarded during the event. The jury of students from the Hochschule der Medien is presenting the Media Ethics Award (META) for the 20th time this year! The award recognizes outstanding journalistic contributions that take particular account of ethical principles and convey values. Fittingly, the META 2023/24 will be awarded on the topic of “Robots” in the two categories of radio and television.
Media representatives are welcome to attend the conference and the award ceremony. Please register by e-mail to trost@hdm-stuttgart.de.
